ALLES CNC vertical machining has been around in its most basic form for over 150 years. However, it is still one of the newest forms of machining technology (turning/lathe being the oldest). The "milling" process requires a rotating tool or drill, and a movable table that holds the work piece. The tool is attached to and rotates in a housing called the "spindle". Through the sharpness of the tool and the force of the table pushing the material into the knife, the material yields and is cut or scraped as desired. The force axis can be up/down (called the Z-axis), left/right (called the X-axis), or front-to-back (called the Y-axis).
